Caribbean Premier League 2022 has already started. In fact, almost one week is gone. It started on 31st August and will end on 30th September. In this first week of CPL 2022, we watched some mind-blowing matches that really took the thrill out of us. So far, all matches of CPL 2022 took place in Warner Park St Kitts and Nevis stadium. We know you would have watched and enjoyed these thrilling matches. But, today let us tell you the highlights and brief summary of every match of CPL 2022 that has been played so far.

CPL 2022 Week 1 matches

 

 

1st match

 

 

August 31st, Wednesday

 

 

Jamaica Tallawahs vs St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, in Warner Park St Kitts and Nevis stadium

JT won by 47 RUNS.

 

 

The first match of CPL 2022 was played between Jamaica Tallawahs vs St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. The match started at 4:30 AM. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots won the toss and opted to bowl first. Jamaica Tallawahs made 183 in 2 wickets. Brendon King scored the highest run from this side. He made 89 runs out of 57 balls hitting 8 fours and 6 sixes. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots chased 183 runs but could make only 136 in 20 overs after losing 8 wickets.

 

 

The highest scorer from this side was Sherfane Rutherford, who made 33 out of 22 balls hitting 4 sixes. The highest wicket-taker from St Kitts and Nevis Patriots was Nicholson Gordon, who took three wickets in 4 overs giving 32 runs.

Saint Lucia Kings vs Trinbago Knight Riders, in Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts

Trinbago Knight Riders won the toss and invited Saint Lucia Kings to bat first. Saint Lucia Kings managed to score 143 runs losing 9 wickets in 20 overs. The highest scorer from this side was Roshan Primus, who scored 38 runs in 25 balls hitting five boundaries including 3 fours and two 6. The best bowler from TKR was Akeal Hosein, who did wonderful bowling and took 4 wickets giving out just 13 runs in 4 overs.

 

 

PKR came to chase 143 runs and achieved its target in 19.2 overs. The team lost 7 wickets while achieving its target. Finally, the team scored 148 runs and managed to secure its win by 3 wickets. The best batsman from the side was Tion Webster, who made 58 runs in 45 balls.

After winning the toss BR opted to bowl first. SNC made 149 in 17 overs losing 8 wickets. BR achieved this score in just 15.1 overs losing only three wickets.

Barbados Royals vs Saint Lucia Kings, in Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts

Barbados Royals won by 11 runs (DLS Method)

 

 

Due to the rain, the 6th match of CPL 2022 was affected. BR got an opportunity to bat for 20 overs but SLK batted only for 9 overs. DLS method was applied to announce the winner. SLK won the toss and invited BR to bat first. BR scored 162 runs in 7 wickets in 20 overs. The highest scorer from this side was K Mayers, who scored 36 runs in 23 balls hitting 6 fours and 1 six. The other players also scored in 20s and 30s. The best bowler from SLK was Mark  Deyal, who did wonderful bowling and bagged 2 wickets giving out just 15 runs in 4 overs.

 

 

BR came to chase 162 runs, but couldn’t score good runs in the initial overs. Just after playing 9 overs, the match was stopped due to the rain. So far, SLK has made 91 runs in four wickets. After that, the match could not be resumed. So, the DLS method was applied and the result got in the favour of BR. The best batsman from SLK was Faf du Plessis, who made 47 runs in 20 balls.

The second match of 4th September CPL 2022 was between SNP and GAW the match was set to start at 11 PM GMT. However, it could not be started because of rain. The match was abandoned.
