The good buys here are local handicrafts, including leather (goatskin) items, baskets, and coconut shells. Some good values can also be found in clothing and fabrics, especially Sea Island cotton.

The Botanical Gardens

The Botanical Gardens were established by Joseph and Martha Murphy from Philadelphia. The gardens, filled with sculptures, fountains, and a replica of a Great House, have many garden areas to visit. At the gardens, you can also experience the tropical rain forest conservatory which was built to emulate the conservatory at Kew Gardens in England.

Bath Hotel and Spring House

Located in Bath Village, the Bath Hotel and Spring House was the first luxury hotel in the West Indies. The two-story masonry structure which was constructed from local hand-cut stones includes five thermal baths whose source of water springs from the base of the house. The spring water is reputed to contain minerals of medicinal value and is known to have cured chronic rheumatism and gout.

 

Shopping: 

Local crafts such as batik, leather products, wall hanging and carvings are the unique products that you can find on the island’s local market.

Public Transportation:

The public transportation on Nevis consists of community buses; they are all privately owned and operated, but they are licensed by the government. The buses are convenient, very inexpensive, and easy to use.

Getting There:

Airport:  Vance W. Amory International Airport on Nevis (NEV). Almost all major airlines fly to the airport. Private jets or charters are also possible to travel if preferred. 

You can fly to the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport (SKB) on St. Kitts. Once you land in St. Kitts you can then be greeted by your hotel representative and escorted to the water taxi for the short six-minute transfer to Nevis.

By sea: If you prefer to travel by sea you can arrive via your private yacht or several cruise ship liners which frequent the island.
