Puerto Rico is a Caribbean Island which is yet a part of the United States Commonwealth. In fact, it is one of the closest Caribbean islands to the mainland territory. The tropical destination is among the favorite spots for cruise lovers. The sun is shining throughout the year, the white sand beaches stretch for miles and there are enough sites to be visited around, not to mention the free hop-on-hop-off trolley at St. Juan. The atmosphere is very similar to that of the Latin America, the culture is Hispanic and yet the main language spoken is English and the standard currency is the dollar.
Another good point is that the island is a connection hub for the Caribbean airlines in the region and one can easily book additional trips to the Virgin Islands and Aruba which are nearby. The local airport Luis Munoz Marin International Airport located in San Juan is serving six major U.S. airlines.
