It goes without saying that Saint Lucia is a country not short of outstanding beauty and unique heritage. A former British colony that was in fact also a French colony before becoming independent from Britain in 1967. The control of St. Lucia could almost be said to be part of a tug and war match between the French and the British, as control of St. Lucia switched between the two countries fourteen times, seven times for the French and Seven times for the British. As a result of this St. Lucia is now a country of mixed culture, French, British, African and Caribbean. The traditions of each of these countries are now celebrated each year in the month of October as part of Creole Heritage Month.  Creole Day in St Lucia  is celebrated on the last Sunday of October. It is a holiday loved by just about everyone that lives on the Island of Saint Lucia.

Popular Caribbean attractions:

Dunn's River Falls

At about 180 feet (55 m) high and 600 feet (180 m) long,[3] the waterfalls are terraced like giant natural stairs though some incorporate man-made improvements. Several small lagoons are interspersed among the vertical sections of the falls.

The falls empty into the Caribbean Sea at the western end of a white-sand beach.

Climbing the waterfalls is a popular tourist activity and is often, but not exclusively, performed with the help of tour guides from the park. It takes about 1-1.5 hours to climb with short breaks for photographs and video recordings taken by the guides. There are also stairs alongside of the falls for those who do not want to get wet or are unable to manage the rocky, uneven terrain of the actual waterfall.

Queen Staircase

The Queen’s Staircase is a walkway of 66 steps (102 feet (31 m) in Nassau, the capital city of The Bahamas. It was carved out of solid limestone rock by 600 slaves between 1793 and 1794 to create an escape route from the fort above and is a major landmark of Nassau. The stairs are located at Fort Fincastle Historic Complex near Bennet’s Hill in Downtown Nassau next to Princess Margaret Hospital and Grosvenor Campus of the University of the Bahamas. The staircase has water cascading to a pool below, along the side over series of steps. At the bottom a walkway goes between high stone walls, tropical plants and trees.

In the 19th century the steps were later named in honor of Queen Victoria, Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, who ended slavery in the British Empire.
